Ashley is the name of Naomi Judd and Michael Ciminella’s daughter. In 1968, the couple relocated to Los Angeles with their two daughters, but by 1972, they had separated.
Naomi Judd returned to Kentucky with the girls in 1976. Wynnona learned to play the guitar and was inspired by her mother’s love of country music.
For Naomi and Wynnona to continue their musical endeavours, the family relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1979.
There, Christina’s mother legally changed her name from Diana to Naomi, and the song “Route 66″—which included a reference to the town of Winona, Arizona—inspired Christina to take on the stage name “Wynonna”.
