JMU Aims To Prevent Suicides On Campus

In response to the alarming trend of suicides on campus, JMU has taken several steps to prevent further tragedies and promote mental health awareness among students, faculty, and staff.

The university has implemented a suicide prevention plan that includes training programs, screening tools, outreach events, and peer support groups.

The plan is based on the recommendations of the Jed Foundation, a national organization that works to prevent suicide among college students.

JMU has also joined the Healthy Minds Network, a research initiative that surveys students about their mental health and well-being.

JMU’s Director of Counseling Services, Dr. Tim Miller, said that the university is committed to creating a culture of care and compassion on campus.
