Manchester United haven’t really had the best of luck in terms of scoring goals in the early part of the 2023/24 Premier League season and have failed to score in the majority of their big games. Amid this, they’re witnessing their loanee Mason Greenwood impress at Getafe while being linked to a possible permanent move to the Spanish club.

Fabrizio Romano has clarified the questions around Greenwood’s future and claims that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is reported to be close to acquiring 25% of the ownership stake at the club, is already internally discussing the Englishman’s future at United going forward.

The journalist adds that “From What I’m Told” Ratcliffe has not made any final decision on the future of the young loanee and that nothing will be decided in December. He claims that the plan is to let him just play football at Getafe and that based on his performances for the rest of the season, United will be deciding on what to do with him. It is added that this decision is likely to be made in April or May and that many different factors will be considered when making this important decision.
How Is Greenwood Performing At Getafe?
The 22-year-old was able to get back to football this season after the charges around him for an alleged attempted assault against his partner were dropped. United decided to loan him out to help him get back to playing games and the Englishman has done a pretty good job in La Liga.

He has made 11 appearances for Getafe so far this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the league, including a stunning winner in their recent win over Almeria. He seems to have impressed Getafe’s manager Jose Bordalas, who has hailed the 22-year-old as a “very intelligent” player and appears to be delighted with him. Despite that, United don’t seem to be totally sure about bringing back Greenwood due to his controversial past and it remains to be seen if that changes anytime soon.
