The ATP Dallas Open, the first tournament in the United States in 2024 is treated to an all-American final. The second seed Tommy Paul comes in as the favorite against unseeded Marco Giron who knocked off the top seed and the fourth seed en route to the final. Giron is playing in just his second ATP Tour final and looking for his first title, while Paul is looking to win his second. Both players are deserving finalist, each having reached the ultimate round without dropping a set. It should be an entertaining final between two hard-hitting players.
ATP Dallas Final Prediction
Tommy Paul vs Marcos Giron
Head-to-head: 3-2 Giron
While Giron surprisingly has the edge in their career meetings, Paul has won two of the last three including a commanding 6-3 6-2 win in their most recent meeting in Toronto last year. Giron did not enter the ATP Dallas Open with high expectations, losing his four previous matches coming into the event. He has played brilliant tennis here, winning all eight of his sets.
While not known for his serve, strong serving has carried him into the final as he has yet to be broken all event. Paul has also won each of his sets convincingly and outside of a sluggish first set in his quarterfinal he has not been broken. There is no real edge when it comes to form with both players looking strong.
This matchup should be all about the serve. Paul certainly has the edge in power when hitting groundstrokes especially on a fast indoor hard court. Giron will need to continue to rely on his serve to be competitive against Paul. The way each player has been serving on the surface there will be little to separate these two in the match. They will hold serve and split tiebreaks for the first two sets with either player having chances to win. Experience will win out in the end with Paul holding his nerve slight more to edge out a victory for the title.
Prediction: Paul in 3
