What Did Brentford Boss Thomas Frank Say About Toney?

The Gunners are reported to have a serious interest in signing Toney in the summer transfer window after he opted to stay with Brentford for the rest of the 2023/24 season. In addition to this, Thomas Frank has recently admitted that the Englishman is likely to be sold by the club at the end of this campaign.

He told Danish outlet Tipsbladet: “It’s quite obvious that Ivan Toney will most likely be sold in the summer. It can be expensive to sell your best player, but on the other hand, I also know that by summer, he’ll only have a year left on his contract with us. We also know what he’s worth. I don’t think there are many strikers in the world who are better than him right now.”

How Much Could Toney Signing Cost Arsenal?

Fabrizio Romano has stated that because the English forward will have under a year remaining on his contract when the summer transfer window begins, it will cost Arsenal or any other interest party lower than the £100 million that they might’ve had to pay for him in the January transfer window.

On Frank’s recent comments, Romano added on his CaughtOffside blog: “I think this situation makes sense and I don’t think clubs needed Frank to say that, it’s quite obvious and also one of the reasons why no one wanted to pay that amount of money in January. In the summer it will be different, for sure.”

Toney, who was hailed as “remarkable” by his Brentford manager last season, has made a triumphant return to action after undergoing a lengthy suspension period for breaching betting rules and has scored two goals in three Premier League games this season.
